Callum Morse
Callum Morse-
Callum Morse takes various surf related images but i am going to focus on his slow shutter seascape images as sown above. In these images he demon straights the use of line, this is shown through the motion blur of the waves horizontally across the image. The colors he uses are very complementary as he uses various tones of blues contrasting against the oranges and pinks from the sunset. the warm tones of the sky contrast against the cool tones of the sea. The texture of these images is very smooth as the slow shutter speed completely smooth out the waves. i would like to capture the reflections of the sunset similar to how Callum Morse did in the photo on the right. The light of the images is quite bright but not very direct as these are taken at evening/ dawn. The images look as if they have has basic manipulation through editing (brightness, contrast and little but of saturation). There has not been any lighting used in these images as they are taken outdoors and uses the natural light. These images have been constructed by using a slow shutter speed and either using a tripod or free hand. By using a slow shutter speed it has created a very effective blur effect which shows an new interesting perspective of seascapes. The composition uses the rule of three/ the thirds. For example in the photo on the right it shows the sea taking up 2/3 of the image and the sky raking 1/3 of the image. This varies between all of his images but the horizon always stays central across the middle of the image. The images portray a very calming atmosphere from the colors used and the no harsh shapes or object creating a very dream like image. These images show a perspective of the waves that the human eye doesn't actually see and captures that very effectively. Callum Morse is a local surf photographer, These images are actually shot at Godrevy/Gwithian which is local to me so i will be shooting there as well and try to get similar images in inspiration from him.
